Squid Game is not just a gruesome game in which contestants have to survive when not fighting each other. Hwang Dong-Hyuk, creator of the hit Netflix series, wanted to go beyond that simple appearance. There are indeed subplots in each episode of Squid Game. Behind the blood and tears is a background where a relatively sharp social criticism is written.

First of all, the fact that the characters, all indebted by unfortunate circumstances, find themselves having to fight their way out of their situation is a barely disguised allegory of unbridled capitalism. South Korea is in the grip of an omnipresent consumer society and Hwang Dong-Hyuk seeks to be a critic of it. The idea of the permanent struggle for life is thus emphasized in the most equivocal and horrible way possible. However, the social themes are not limited to this.

Just as North Korea distinguishes workers according to their rank in the name of the Songbun doctrine, the workers and soldiers of the Squid Game organization are divided into castes. All workers are devoid of any personality. All dressed in the same uniform, they are forced to mask themselves and never speak without being authorized by a superior in order not to risk singling themselves out. All the ingredients of a totalitarian society are then gathered. And the red soldiers represent them wonderfully.

Also, a red soldier with a circle mask is not a soldier in the strict sense of the word. The role of a Squid Game employee can be distinguished by the pattern on his helmet. A circle refers to a worker. They are subordinate workers who do all the maintenance, upkeep and running of the events. They are in charge of feeding the candidates and, when it is their turn, of clearing their bodies. They act like ants working only for the benefit of the Squid Game.

The Funko POP red soldier figure with circle mask from Squid Game does not show a single bit of skin. Anything that could distinguish a red soldier with circle mask from another would prove that they do not respect the rules of Squid Game formally prohibiting them to singularize. The simple fact of showing his face is worth the death penalty. Also, the Funko POP red soldier with circle mask from Squid Game is perfectly masked.

The circle in the middle of the mask of the Red Soldier POP figure with circle mask determines his social status in the organization. This one, dressed in his red suit tending to pink and a black mask, is obviously a worker. No doubt his suit is of such a color so that we can not identify the blood stains on it ...
